Kathleen Teresa O'Neill, age 90, of Milford passed away quietly in her home on Saturday, January 3, 2026, after a long and fruitful life. She was born November 3, 1935, in Wrexham, Wales to the late Elizabeth (Plenderleith) and William Curran, while her father was in the British Army.

Kathleen was raised in Belfast, Northern Ireland and as a child during World War II, Belfast - the ship building capital of Great Britain during the war - was bombed nightly during the German raids. She never talked about the war often, but she carried it with her, her entire life.
She married Patrick O’Neill in 1954, and they emigrated to the Bronx, NY in 1958 with their two young sons. Not to her taste, she convinced her husband to move to Milford, where Paddy’s brothers George and Hugh had settled with their families. In Milford she found a home.
Kathleen raised her eight children and once they were grown, she graduated from St. Vincent’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1979. After many years working at St. Vincent’s Hospital, she ended her career at the APT Foundation in New Haven where she made many lifelong friends.
Kathleen’s children remain very proud of her late-in-life accomplishments and three of her daughters followed her into the nursing field.
The major constant and most important thing in Kathleen’s life was her love for God and the Blessed Virgin. Sunday mornings were always an adventure trying to get all the young children out of bed, fed, dressed and in the car and to church on time. To her final days she watched Mass on TV and said her rosary daily.
For many years, Kathleen served as a member of the Resurrection Choir at St. Gabriel Church as well as the St. Gabriel knitter’s group.
Kathleen is survived by her children, daughter-in-law Frances (Hugh), sons Peter O'Neill (Pam) and Patrick O'Neill (Kasey), daughters Ellen Roberson (Pat), Kathleen Flanagan (Chris), Una O'Neill, Elizabeth O'Neill, and Margaret O'Neill.
She is also survived by grandchildren Sarah (Beau), Kathleen (Devin), Emily (Brandon), Jennefer (Ed), Peter (Shannon), Patrick, Matthew (Paul) , Rebecca, Caitlin (Adam), Lauren (Mauricio), Molly, Michael, Jessica (Mike), Heather (Greg), Amy (Jerry), Maggie (Dennis), Patrick Jr, Natalie and Jeremy.
Kathleen also leaves thirty great grandchildren which always ensured she had plenty of babies to hold and love.
Kathleen also leaves many nieces and nephews in the United States and Ireland.
Kathleen was predeceased by her beloved husband Patrick, her son Hugh, granddaughters Amanda O'Neill and Kelly Roberson and grandson Ian O’Neill. She gratefully goes to join them.
Kathleen was predeceased by her five siblings William Curran (Eilish), Margaret Marsden (Sydney), Stanley Curran, Brian Curran and Ethel Carlysle.
The O'Neill Family would like to thank Constellation Health Services and in particular nurses Nicole and Stephanie.
Special thanks to Kathleen’s niece Annie O’Neill who helped care for her the last years and has been a constant source of comfort and support.

Calling hours are Thursday January 8th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Doyle Funeral Home, 291 Bridgeport Avenue, Milford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 am DIRECTLY in St. Gabriel Church, Broadway, Milford. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kathleen's name to the Milford Senior Center where Kathleen spent many happy days at the Ahern’s Respite Program.
