'Strong Passion For Food And Community': New Deli Owner Talks Milford Opening

MILFORD, CT — R&M Cutlet Co. is now open for regular hours with its full menu available for customers. The deli at 575 New Haven Ave. had a soft open offering a limited selection last month.

"This was basically three friends with a strong passion for food and community and a love for authentic Italian deli-fare bringing their vision to life with R&M Deli," co-owner Matthew Nittoly said.

Ryan Trevethan and Michael Hazzard are also part of the venture, which has been in the works for the last year.

"R&M Cutlet Co. is more than just a new deli in Milford," Nittoly said. "It's a dream come true for three friends who share a love for good food and want to bring the community together with great Italian sandwiches."

Each of the co-owners brings something unique to the table. Trevethan is a restaurateur and chef in Milford who owns neighboring restaurant, The Plate, in the same plaza as R&M.

Hazzard, also a Milford resident, is a full time builder/contractor who also shares a love for Italian sandwiches and "has the skills to help build this dream," Nittoly said.

Nittoly is a full-time educator in Norwalk with a history of culinary training and work experience coupled with his love for Italian food and culture.

Nittoly said that R&M is an authentic Italian deli which specializes in freshly made chicken cutlet sandwiches, along with an array of other Italian cold-cut and hot sandwich specialties.

"Our sandwiches, hot food bar, and mini-Italian market offerings are inspired by the people, movies, TV shows and culture that shaped us growing up; mainly Italian-American things that made us laugh, gather and feel at home," he added.

For winter, the store will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday to Friday and Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The deli will be closed on Mondays.
