MILFORD, CT - (From Cody-White Funeral Home) Lee Lund, 78, of Milford, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on December 13, 2021. Born on October 18, 1943 in Newport, RI, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Laura (Butcher) Lund.

Lee began her love of dance, encouraged by her mother’s guidance. A graduate of Milford High School in 1961, she attended Julliard and started her professional career dancing on Broadway, performing in five Broadway musicals including: Hello Dolly, Hyman Kaplan, Promises Promise and West Side Story, where she reprised the role of Anybodys.

Following her time on Broadway, Lee moved to the west coast to entertain audiences in TV and movies. Lee could be seen on award shows such as the Grammy’s, the American Music Awards, and the Academy Awards, to name a few.

She performed in a number of variety television shows for celebrities such as: Mary Tyler Moore, Andy Williams, John Wayne, Ben Vereen (featured soloist), John Denver, and Goldie Hawn.

She assisted in choreographing for the Sonny and Cher Series and the Fame TV series.

Lee also appeared in several movies including, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.

In 1983, Lee returned to her hometown of Milford, CT and with her sister, Dennie Kirkpatrick, opened the Lee Lund Studio of Dance, instilling the art and love of dance to hundreds of students for more than 35 years.

Lee had a profound effect on the lives of her students and was deeply touched to see her dancers carry on those lessons learned into their professional careers.

She showed beauty and grace in all that she did, and her legacy will continue to live on for years to come.

She will be greatly missed by her beloved daughter Ambere Rogers and son-in-law Stephen Henshaw; her step-son Jimmy Rogers; her sister and brother-in-law Denise and William Kirkpatrick; her two nephews, Derrick Kirkpatrick and his wife Megan, their daughters Laura and Grace; Ian Kirkpatrick and his wife Amanda, their daughters Josephine and Lucinda; and her former spouse Jaime Rogers.

All immediate services will be private. A public tribute/’celebration-of-life’ will be held sometime in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, Lee’s family is planning to set up a collection in her name to go to students to further their education in dance.
