Obituary: Richard Rouse, Sr., 93, of Milford

Richard, lovingly referred to as "Pop", was known as a hard worker and a dedicated family man.

MILFORD, CT - (From Cody-White Funeral Home) Richard Rouse, Sr., 93, of Milford, beloved husband of 62 years to Patricia Rouse, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on December 19, 2021.

Richard was born on December 19, 1928 in Cairo, NY to the late Dorothy Rouse.

Above all, Richard was a wonderful family man whose grandchildren lovingly called him “Pop”. He was a hard worker who always made sure his family was taken care of.

Rich enjoyed the excitement of playing Jai Alai, numbers and gin rummy.

He often went out to breakfast with his son. Rich and Pat loved to travel and spend time together once their children were grown.

In addition to his wife, Pat, Richard leaves behind his children, Richard Rouse, Jr. and his wife Michele, Lori Thompson, Susan Olencki, and Patricia Davidson and her husband Matt, Sr.; grandchildren, Ashley Rouse and her fiancé Bradley, Joshua and Jake Rouse, Matthew and Nicole Thompson, Paige, Samantha and Kelly Olencki, Tony Turner and his wife Lisa, Gina Tepetl and her husband Marto, Erika Turner and Matthew Davidson, Jr.; great grandchildren, Aliana, Marcos and Jullian Teptl.

He also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Lynn DeMarco; brother-in-law, Bruce McDowell and his wife Kate; best friends, John Cronin; and two daughters, Sharon and Cindy.

Rich’s family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Lee and the Branford Hospice nurses for their kind and compassionate care.
