Obituary: William F. Armshaw, 78, of Milford
Bill was known as kind and generous with a wonderful sense of humor. He was devoted to his family and was an avid sailor.

MILFORD, CT - (From Cody-White Funeral Home) William F. Armshaw, 78, of Milford CT passed away on December 17, 2021. Bill was born in New York City on July 16, 1943 to the late William and Margaret Armshaw.
Raised and educated in the Bronx, he attended SS Peter and Paul Elementary School and Cardinal Hayes HS in the So Bronx. In 1965 he graduated Fordham University with a BS degree in accounting.
After his first employment with the IRS, he woked with GTE in corporate taxes. Next, at Marsh & McLennan Inc he enjoyed a stimulating career as a manager of international taxes, specializing in mergers and acquisitions and then finally retiring in 2013.
Bill loved sailing and working on his boats: first the Evening Star and later, Kinvara. Kinvara being named for the seaport town on Galway Bay where his mother, a proud Kilkelly from Crushoa was born. He and his sons spent many happy hours sailing together from Milford Harbor on the Long Island Sound.
After retirement he enjoyed having the extra time to read several books a week, and always accompanied his leisurely breakfast with the New York Times.
Working on his home and yard was a joy for him especially when he was sharing projects with his sons and friends. With a father from Tipperary, and a mother from Galway, he was truly proud of his Irish heritage and history.
Bill had a kind and generous heart and a wonderful sense of humor, and his laughter will echo in our hearts forever.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Young, his three sons, Jonathan, Matthew and Luke and their mother, his former spouse, Stephanie Armshaw, and his sister, Mary Lippi. We will miss his friendship and love and all those special times we shared.
Dearly loved friends, Thomas and Helen Cavanaugh mourn with us. Born together in the same year and in the same Bronx apartment building, Tom was a brother in heart and friendship for all the years of their lives.
Bill’s cousins from the US and Ireland enriched his life, as well as all of his in-laws and large extended family. He loved, and was so well-loved, and that love will live on in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Paul Koors Aortic Clinic at Montefiore Hospital, Bronx NY (www.montefiore.org/koorsclinic).
Friends and family may gather on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT 06460.
