Reps. Staneski & Ferraro ‘Drop-in’ and Visit Room4

State Reps. Pam Staneski and Charles Ferraro spent some time touring and meeting with the staff of Room4 in Milford.

From the Connecticut General Assembly: Room4 is a drop-in resource center on Boston Post Road in Milford. Room4 is a place where Milford young adults can go and can come and visit in a sober, safe environment without making an appointment, for a variety of reasons; friends, recreation, arts, community resources, or someone who will listen.

Rep. Staneski said, “What a terrific community asset. Milford is lucky to have such a dedicated place and staff to work with on whatever their needs are.”

“Room4 provides excellent resources for young adults in our community,” said Rep. Ferraro. “We are thrilled to have Room4 right in our backyard and encourage young adults and professionals to take advantage of all of the amazing resources they offer.”

Room4 prides itself on offering people a space to relax with recreation and entertainment, plus ways to explore creative outlets and employment opportunities. Room4 has youth support staff that meet young adults at the front door and ask them how they are and if there is anything in particular they are looking for. According to Room4, some young adults come just to sit and have quiet time, others are more social.

There are two other similar spaces in New London and New Haven. They service a lot of people: in their very first quarter last year (they opened February, 2016) they had 12 new folks come in, and in their most recent quarter they had 113 new folks and 721 duplicate visits (people who came more than once, in total visits).
