Scott Burrell to Headline United Way of Milford Campaign Kickoff
SCSU Men's Basketball head coach Scott Burrell will speak at United Way of Milford's October 5 campaign kickoff event.

MILFORD, CT - The United Way of Milford will kick off its 2016-17 Campaign Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Subway World Headquarters, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. United Way is pleased to announce that Scott Burrell, a retired professional basketball player and current Head coach for Southern Connecticut State University Men’s Basketball, will be our guest speaker. Burrell starred at UConn, famously tossing the court-length pass to Tate George that led to the game-winning hoop in an NCAA Tournament win over Clemson in 1990. Burrell played professionally from 1993-2006 and was Michael Jordan's teammate on a Chicago Bulls' NBA title team. Burrell, also played internationally and was also a professional baseball player. He was the first American athlete to be a first round draft-pick of two major sporting organizations (the NBA and Major League Baseball).
“We are thrilled to have Scott Burrell with us to kick off our Campaign,” said Gary Johnson, President of United Way. “We are so thankful to our friends at Subway for hosting this exciting event as well as our Milford community for supporting our efforts.”

The United Way of Milford supports 20 local non-profit agencies who are dedicated to helping our local Milford residents. United Way is dedicated to building a stronger, safer, healthy and more vibrant community. “I invite you to be part of this change to create more opportunities for a better tomorrow,” says Johnson.
