Snow accumulation estimates have been released for snow on Friday. Here's what you need to know about timing and how much to expect.
SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT — It looks like this winter will be dominated by small but more frequent snow events.
In here we go again news, the National Weather Service is forecasting one to two more inches of snow on Friday across southern Connecticut. However, this time around, with the freezing temperatures in place, the freshly fallen snow will stick on top of the one to two inches of snow and ice we received on Tuesday.
The very cold temperatures will remain through Sunday, and then it begins to warm up a bit beginning next week.

"Friday Snow Potential: A light snow looks to develop from the south Friday morning, falling lightly much of the day before tapering in the late afternoon or early evening.

- Total Snowfall: 1” to 3” likely. Reasonable worst case 4” to 5”.
- Snowfall Rates: Up to 0.5 inch/hour Friday morning into early evening.
- Temperatures: Upper 20s and lower 30s.
- Impacts: Snow covered roads and reduced visibility much of Friday. Impacts likely for evening commute," according to the weather service.
Update on the very cold weather via the weather service:
- "Arctic Air Mass: Temperatures remain near or below freezing across the region through Sunday night. Blustery winds this weekend will lead to wind chills near zero at times.
- Air Temperatures: Mornings in the teens and 20s. Afternoons in the 20s and lower 30s.
- Wind Chill Values: Mornings in the single digits. Sub-zero values possible Saturday and Sunday morning. Afternoon values in the teens and 20s.
- Impacts: Frostbite could occur on exposed skin in under 30 minutes. Poorly insulated water lines along exterior walls could freeze and burst," according to the weather service.
I-95 towns forecast:
Thursday: Increasing clouds, with a high near 31. Wind chill values between 5 and 15. West wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
Thursday Night: A slight chance of snow showers between 1am and 4am, then a slight chance of snow after 4am. Cloudy, with a low around 24. West wind 5 to 7 mph becoming north after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Friday: Snow likely, mainly after 7am. Cloudy, with a high near 31. Wind chill values between 15 and 20. Northeast wind 7 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
Friday Night: A 30 percent chance of snow before 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 15. Northwest wind around 11 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph.
Inland sections of southern Connecticut:
Thursday: A 20 percent chance of snow showers after 2pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 29. Wind chill values between 5 and 15. Southwest wind 7 to 9 mph.
Thursday Night: A slight chance of snow showers before 8pm, then a slight chance of snow after 5am. Cloudy, with a steady temperature around 25. Wind chill values between 20 and 25. Southwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming light and variable in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Friday: Snow likely, mainly after 8am. Cloudy, with a high near 30. Wind chill values between 15 and 20. North wind 5 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.
Friday Night: Snow likely, mainly before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 13. North wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
