SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT — The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Monday due to the chance of severe weather.
"Severe thunderstorms are possible Monday afternoon into Monday night. There is a risk for damaging wind gusts and large hail with any thunderstorm that develops," the weather service said on Sunday.
The chance for storms is after 2 p.m. and up until 8 p.m. Monday. There is also a chance for more storms on Wednesday afternoon and night.

"We have issued a *First Alert* for Monday afternoon and evening due to the development of scattered areas of rain and storms," said WFSB 3 TV meteorologists. "Towns along and to the east of I-91 are in a slight (level 2 out of 5) risk for strong to severe thunderstorms and areas west of the interstate are in a marginal (level 1 out of 5). Plan to bring in the patio cushions and close your patio umbrella! Storms will be capable of producing locally heavy rainfall, frequent lightning, a gusty wind, and hail greater than 1.″
"Data continues to show an impactful cold front that will bring rain and storms Wednesday afternoon and evening," according to WFSB 3 TV meteorologists. "Ahead of this front our dew points will surge to near 70 meaning a tropical feel to the air. There is a level 1 risk for excessive rainfall and strong to severe storms are likely, so we have issued a *First Alert* for potential impacts to travel and outdoor activities. Some of the storms on Wednesday could pack a big punch so we will watch for any elevated risk assessments to be issued for our state." (Read/watch more at WFSB 3 TV).
