Special Weather Statement Issued For Ice In Southern Connecticut: Here's When, What To Know

The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for coastal sections of Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex and New London counties.

The weather service said, "Areas of light precipitation may develop tonight and may be in the form of flurries or freezing drizzle. If freezing drizzle develops, a glaze of ice is possible on any untreated surface. This may result in hazardous travel conditions quickly developing."

Tonight: A slight chance of flurries before 10pm, then a chance of light snow, mainly after 4am. Mostly cloudy, with a steady temperature around 27. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Saturday: A chance of snow and freezing rain before 9am, then a chance of drizzle between 9am and 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 41. Calm wind becoming west 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 26. West wind 3 to 5 mph.

Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 40. Wind chill values between 25 and 35. Light and variable wind becoming north around 6 mph in the morning.
