Susan Jane K. Reynolds, age 82, beloved wife of David L. Reynolds of Milford, entered into peaceful rest on December 1, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was born on October 3, 1943 in Milford and was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Beatrice (Coombe) Kot.
Susan was an elementary school teacher for 1 st grade and then a reading teacher in the Milford Public Schools. Wanting to travel, she took a job with the Military Dependent School in Heilbronn, Germany where she met her devoted husband, David, who was a soldier in the U S Army there. After dating for the school year, they were married and spent the next year in Germany where she continued to teach and David finished his service with the military. They returned to Connecticut and settled in Milford, where she continued teaching in the Milford schools. She earned her Master’s degree and Sixth year while working as a teacher. Upon starting a family she left school teaching and devoted herself to raising her family, which was her greatest joy. She loved to travel and instilled that love in her children with many trips to in the US, Europe and other destinations.
In her childhood she absorbed the love of the land and gardening from her grandfather Coombe, which she embodied throughout her life thereafter. Susan was a tireless worker as a member of the Milford Garden Club for over 30 years. Fully of energy, Susan was compelled to help others whom she could benefit whether by selling Boy Scout wreaths, donating her plants for May Market, visiting an elderly shut-in every week, hosting a breakfast for the kids high school swim teams, or baking breads for the Church fundraisers, She was a positive force for encouraging others, whether family or friends, and was always focused on helping them succeed.
In addition to her husband, Susan leaves her three loving children, Elizabeth L. James (Brian) of West Newton, MA, Daniel L. Reynolds, of Milford, and David N. Reynolds of Kaua’i, HI, two grandchildren, Claire E. and Andrew D. James, her brother, Mitchell R. Kot (Jennifer) of Gainesville, GA and a nephew and four nieces.
