SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT — The National Weather Service said there is a "marginal risk for severe thunderstorms with the possibility for damaging winds as well as a brief tornado Wednesday into Wednesday night."

A flood watch has also been issued from Wednesday morning through late Wednesday night.

"Showers and thunderstorms will produce heavy rainfall which could result in rainfall rates up to 1 to 2 inches per hour at times. Areas receiving multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms with heavy rain have a chance for flash flooding in low lying, poor drainage and urban areas."

The latest on Hurricane Lee's track and potential impacts via WFSB 3 TV

"The latest track from the National Hurricane Center has shifted Lee slightly east. The “cone of uncertainty” no longer includes portions of southern New England," wrote WFSB 3 TV Meteorologists Mark Dixon and Melissa Cole.

"Though, with this storm being so close by, we still may have some impacts locally. Right now, we can expect wind and high clouds to increase Friday into Friday night. Saturday will be a windy and mostly cloudy day with temps in the 70s. Should the track nudge back west, we may deal with tropical storm force winds and the possibility of rain on Saturday, especially over the eastern third of the state. At this point in time, a shift farther west is not looking as likely, based on recent model data." (Read/Watch more at WFSB 3 TV).
