Video Viewfinder: Mohegan Wigwam Festival Dances Explained

The Mohegans' Wigwam Festival took place this weekend at Uncas, Village of Shantok, formerly Fort Shantok.

The event included a parade of Native Americans from many tribes, traditional ceremonies and food, vendors selling all sorts of Native American items, and a lot of dancing and dance competitions.

Cassandra Meeham, 14, of Oakdale, has been competing in pow wows since she was 8 years old. Meeham describes the meanings of a couple dances that were performed during the Mohegan Wigwam Festival.
