Child, 11, Struck By Car After Being Dropped Off By School Bus: Police

The accident occurred Tuesday afternoon and police in Watertown are investigating.

WATERTOWN, CT — An 11-year-old girl was struck by a vehicle shortly after being dropped off by a school bus Tuesday afternoon, police said.

At 3 p.m., police responded to the area of Buckingham Street and Cummings Avenue for the report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

Officers found an 11-year-old girl had previously been dropped off by a school bus, police said. The bus departed and a short time later the girl attempted to cross Buckingham Street when she was struck by a vehicle, police said.

The girl was taken by ambulance to a local hospital with undetermined injuries, police said. The vehicle involved stayed on the scene, police said. The accident is currently under investigation and Buckingham Street will be closed for the time being between Booth Avenue and Carter Street.
