Naugatuck Police Officer Injured In Car Crash During Winter Storm

The officer was hospitalized following the crash, according to Naugatuck police.

NAUGATUCK, CT — A Naugatuck police officer was injured in a car crash on Friday as a winter storm dumped several inches of snow on parts of the state.

According to the Naugatuck Police Department, the crash occurred around 7 p.m. Police did not say where the crash happened or what led up to it.

The officer was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. No other vehicles were involved.

Most of Connecticut was expected to receive more than six inches of snow on Friday night, courtesy of a strong but very quick-moving winter storm.

The snow was forecast to fall until around midnight. Ahead of the storm, Gov. Ned Lamont urged motorists to stay off the roads, if possible.

By Saturday morning, the storm had dropped 6-8 inches across most of the state, with lesser amounts across far eastern areas and higher amounts of 8-10 inches across western Connecticut, according to WTNH forecasters.

Another system is expected to arrive in the region Sunday night and into Monday morning. Forecasters are calling for mostly rain at this point, but freezing rain and icy conditions are possible for inland towns on Sunday evening.
