Dilapidated Building in Downtown Naugatuck to be Demolished

The structure is the first building drivers see entering downtown from Route 8 southbound.

The Naugatuck Board of Mayor and Burgesses and the owners of One South Main St., LLC have come to an agreement to tear down a dilapidated building located at 1 South Main St., creating more recreational opportunities for the public, the Republican-American reports.

The agreement decreases the value of the building to $96,000 decreasing the property taxes due on the building and in exchange the owners will allow the borough to tear down the building.

According to the paper, the agreement gives the borough the sole responsibility for tearing down the building. The borough has accepted a bid for $42,900 from Weise Construction of Norwich for the demolition.
