Increased Parties, Litter In Naugatuck State Forest Concern Neighbors: Report

Increased partying, littering and illegal swimming in Naugatuck State Forest has neighbors concerned, according to a new report.

NAUGATUCK, CT — Increased partying and illegal swimming, as well as litter such as beer bottles, barbecue grills and even tires, in Naugatuck State Forest has neighbors concerned, many of whom have stopped cleaning up or visiting the forest altogether as a result, CT Insider reports.

According to CT Insider, the forest has always been a spot where local teens partied, but recent TikToks highlighting the forest as a "hidden gem" have resulted in larger crowds. As a result, DEEP recently implemented a temporary alcohol ban in the forest from July 2 through Sept. 30.

Naugatuck State Forest is almost 5,000 acres of wild, undeveloped woodlands, grasslands, rivers, lakes, ravines and swamp in the scenic Naugatuck River valley, according to CT Parks.
