Naugatuck Dumping Remains a Consistent Problem

Although the issue hasn't gotten worse over the years, dumping is still very prevalent and is being addressed by officials.

Naugatuck resident Rich Tavares witnessed someone dumping their unwanted items on the side of the road in Naugatuck and Middlebury, and promptly called police following the incident, according to the Republican-American.

Investigation of who dumped the unwanted items was still pending as of Thursday, but waste collection crews were told not to pick of the debris with hopes of letting those who dumped the waste collect it themselves and also be fined by the town, the Rep-Am reports.

Naugatuck Street Department Superintendent Bob Roland told the Rep-Am that illegal dumping has been a consistent problem over the last few years, but police have done a good job, often identifying those who were responsible for debris, and the problem hasn’t seemed to worsen.
