Hartford Man Accused Of Breaking Into Naugatuck Laundromat
The man is facing multiple charges following the Nov. 13 incident, police said.
NAUGATUCK, CT — A Hartford man is facing multiple charges after police said he broke into a Naugatuck laundromat last month.
Carlos J. Ortiz, 36, was charged with two counts of third-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary and criminal mischief following the Nov. 13 incident, Naugatuck police said in a news release.
According to police, officers responded to The Wash Zone, located at 799 New Haven Rd., on the morning of the incident after an alarm company received a security alert and observed suspicious activity on surveillance footage.

Responding officers found evidence of forced entry and damage to the laundromat as well as an adjacent vacant storefront. Authorities searched the area but were unable to locate a suspect.
After reviewing surveillance footage, police said the video showed multiple people forcibly entering The Wash Zone before fleeing the scene.

Ortiz was taken into custody on Tuesday with the help of Connecticut State Police. He is being held on a $100,000 court-set bond and was arraigned in Waterbury Superior Court.
