Buses are experiencing delays due to weather conditions Monday afternoon, impacting drop off times, according to Naugatuck Public Schools.

NAUGATUCK, CT — School buses are experiencing delays in Naugatuck due to weather conditions Monday, according to Naugatuck Public Schools.

In a Facebook post around 2:45 p.m., district officials said the bus run delays are impacting student drop off times Monday afternoon.

"As always, the safety of our students and staff is our priority," district officials said on Facebook. "If you have any questions regarding a bus or school, please contact your child's principal."

The National Weather Service issued a special weather statement Monday afternoon for southern Connecticut regarding light snow that was expected to continue throughout the afternoon.

At 1:29 p.m., the weather service wrote: "...Slippery Travel Into This Evening...Light snow will continue through 3 pm. Most roads remain wet, but a few may briefly become snow covered. Temperatures remain below freezing across the area so any untreated surfaces may become icy and slick into the evening commute. Use extra caution while traveling this afternoon and evening."
