15 Counterfeit Bills Passed at Radio Shack

The phony bills each had a $20 denomination and were used with a single real $20 bill.

After a young man paid $319 for a set of headphones at Radio Shack with $20 bills, a sales clerk became suspicious of about 15 of the bills, which turned out to be fake, according to an article in the New Canaan Advertiser.

The clerk told the store manager about a particular purchase made at about 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27, in which a customer bought Beats by Dre brand headphones with $20 bills, the newspaper reported. The bills were taken to the Bank of America branch office, where the 15 bills were determined to be counterfeit.

The customer is described as white, about 21 years old, 6 feet, 1 inch tall, with short, brown hair and medium build.
