Summer is coming to a close, and parents in New Canaan can mark the first day of school that is quickly approaching.
NEW CANAAN, CT — Back-to-school planning has already begun in New Canaan, with calendars available to help parents prepare for the first day in New Canaan Public Schools for the 2025-26 school year.
The first day of school for most students in New Canaan is Tuesday, Aug. 26, according to the district calendar.
Heading into the upcoming school year, some dates are subject to change. Here is the list of dates to know for this school year:

- Oct. 2: Yom Kippur (No School)

- Nov. 4: Professional Learning/Election Day (No School for Students)
- Nov. 26 (half day) - Nov. 28: Thanksgiving Vacation (No School)
- Dec. 1: Grade 5 Parent Conferences
- Dec. 2 - Dec. 5: K-5 Parent Conferences
- Dec. 23 (half day) - Jan. 2: Holiday Break (No School)
- Jan. 19: Martin Luther King Jr. Day (No School)
