Second Installment Of Taxes Due On This Date In New Canaan

NEW CANAAN, CT — The second installment of taxes due to the town of New Canaan on the assessment list of Oct. 1, 2024, is due and payable on Jan. 1, 2026, town officials announced this week.

According to a news release posted to the town website, the includes real estate, supplemental motor vehicle bills and personal property taxes as well as sewer fees.

The payments will legally be acceptable without interest if paid on or before Feb. 2, 2026, town officials said.

Town officials also noted "failure to receive a tax bill does not negate responsibility for full payment of taxes...according to New Canaan Revenue Collector Sebastian Caldarella."

Checks payable to Town of New Canaan may be mailed to PO Box 150403, Hartford, CT 06115-0403.

"The last day for postmarking is Feb. 2, 2026, so be sure that if mailed on this day the envelop is brought to a post office for postmarking," the town website reads.

Checks may be delivered in person to the Tax Collector's Office in Town Hall at 77 Main Street.

Office hours are Monday–Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The office is closed Jan. 1 and Jan. 19, 2026.
