Car Crashes Into, Damages Utility Pole In New Canaan: Police

Police said the driver was evaluated at the scene by New Canaan Emergency Medical Services.

NEW CANAAN, CT — A utility police in New Canaan was damaged after a car crashed into it Sunday night, according to police.

In a news release, Police Lt. Marc DeFelice said the car struck the pole in the area of Smith Ridge Road and Canoe Hill Road around 8 p.m.

The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was evaluated by New Canaan Emergency Medical Services but was not brought to a hospital, DeFelice said.

Smith Ridge Road was closed at Twin Pond Lane and Canoe Hill Road following the crash. Utility companies were notified about the damaged pole, DeFelice said.

The accident is under investigation, according to DeFelice.
