Committee to Review Use of New Canaan's Waveny House

The Board of Selectmen appointed the committee.

A Waveny House Committee has been appointed by town officials who want a review of what improvements are needed for the Tudor-style mansion that the town purchased in 1967.

The mansion, built by the Lapham family in 1912, is rented for various functions including weddings and also houses the town’s Recreation Department.

At their meeting Tuesday, the Board of Selectmen named Bill Holmes, Suzanne Jonker, Steve Parrett and Penny Young to the committee, according to The New Canaanite. The committee also will make recommendations on future uses of the building.

The town already is planning several infrastructure updates to the building including replacement of the roof and making bathrooms ADA-compliant.

Recreation Director Steve Benko, Parks and Recreation Commission Chairman Sally Campbell and Department of Public Works Buildings Superintendent Bill Oestmann also are expected to serve on the committee, according to the New Canaanite story that can be found here.
