NEW CANAAN, CT — Police have investigated 27 burglaries in New Canaan throughout 2025, including two that were reported in the past week, the department announced Thursday.

In a Facebook post, police said they are continuing to see a trend of burglars gaining access through a second floor window or door using a ladder either brought to the scene or already at the home.

According to police, many houses do not have alarm systems that include second floor motion sensors or second floor glass break/forced entry detection, leading to alarms not being set off.
