"It is unusual that an owner has not claimed this dog," Godejohn said, "as she is very well mannered and well cared for."
According to Godejohn, Animal Control typically finds or receives somewhere between two and six dogs found in New Canaan a month, and they are usually picked up by their owners within a few hours.
"This dog has been with us for over 24 hours," Godejohn said, "which is very unusual."
Godejohn also noted Emma will be adopted out if her owner does not claim her by Feb. 4.
Anyone with information is asked to call New Canaan Animal Control at 203-594-3510.
