Expansion of Philip Johnson Glass House Operations Sought
Reps for the National Trust for Historic Preservation site say they need to increase revenue for operations of the New Canaan museum.

Town Planning and Zoning Commission officials are hoping that the officials at the Philip Johnson Glass House and the neighbors of the National Historic site can work out an agreement that would allow expansion of the museum’s operations.
Museum officials presented their request to make adjustments to its special operating permit at the commission’s monthly meeting Tuesday night. They cited the financial needs to operate, maintain and repair the site at 842 Ponus Ridge Rd. as reasons for the request, according to The New Canaanite.
The museum is seeking to increase the attendance cap for special events, the number of evenings during which special events can be held, the hours of operation and increase the attendance cap for its annual fund-raiser from 250 to 400 people, according to the report. Those changes would allow for more revenue-generating private rentals of the property.
