Farm to Barn Brunch Springs up for the Second Season!
Carriage Barn Arts Center Cooks up a Brunch with the New Canaan Farmers Market for a Flavorful Event
With just a few short weeks away from the 26th annual New Canaan Farmers Market opening, folks will gather for a fine Spring feast. Join us this Sunday, March 3, 2024, from 11am-1pm at the Carriage Barn Arts Center of Waveney Park, 681 South Ave, New Canaan. A collaboration of the Carriage Barn Arts Center and the New Canaan Farmers Market, located seasonally in the old Lumberyard Municipal Parking Lot at 244 Elm ST. "We are celebrating Spring and hosting the event for the community to enjoy," Hilary Wittman, Executive Director of the Carriage Barn Arts Center. "We are excited to present a taste of the farmers market, while mingling with neighbors you might not have seen in a while." Says Lexi, Market Master for the New Canaan Farmers Market. "The extensive menu is seasonal, based on local availability. Not quite finished with winter stored vegetables yet, so we are happily preparing a mix of indoor vegetation and the last of the fall harvests." Among the offerings are produce items graciously supplied by Riverbank Organic Farm, Smith's Acres. Special thank you to Wave Hill Breads, Bad Ass Bagels, Walter Stewarts Market for helping out with menu ingredients.
Fifth State will be spreading their Ct raised corn-based cheer, while the newest merchant in town, The Tea and Spice Exchange pours samples of their teas. Dips will be made from their special spice blends as well. Guests will be able to peruse the bountiful buffet tables presented by D's Kitchen, Carrot Top Kitchen, Mama Hu's Caring Foods, Walter Stewarts catering, Grumpy Dumplings, Silvia's Kitchen, Stylish Spoon, Emalyn Sweets, Michele's Pies, Wonderland Jam, and others. Items to choose from also include indoor microgreens from Highridge Hydroponics, meats and eggs from Ox Hollow Farm and Henny Penny Farm, Cheeses and yogurts from Little Farm on Main, and the freshest catch of smoked salmon, branzino dip by Ideal Fish.
There is something sure to please and delight everyone's palate, from gluten free and vegan choices to meats lovers and hearty eaters. Some of the menu's highlights include the silver dollar pancakes, freshly laid poached farm eggs and bacon, with winter vegetable hash, the market's favorite dumplings and sushi bake, a charcuterie collection of local proteins, and the dessert table full of interesting finds, such as lemon beet crinkle cookies, vegan mint chocolates, Japanese style cheesecakes, and a whole lot more! Henry Jones Live will be performing with a friend as guests munch and mingle, peruse the barn's current exhibit of award-winning artwork originals. All while supporting a sustainable community of farmers and artisans. Last chance to grab a ticket and secure your seat!
