Filling In The Blanks To Hold 2025 Unite To Fight 5K In New Canaan
The nonprofit is scheduled to hold its seventh annual Unite to Fight 5K this weekend at Waveny Park in New Canaan.

NEW CANAAN, CT — Filling in the Blanks, a Norwalk-based nonprofit dedicated to combating childhood hunger, will hold its seventh annual Unite to Fight 5K this weekend at Waveny Park in New Canaan.
According to a news release provided by Filling in the Blanks, the event is scheduled to take place Sunday and "is a vital part of FITB’s ongoing mission to provide nutritious meals to children in need over the weekends."
Area residents are asked to show their support and and spread community awareness of Filling in the Blanks' mission by registering as a fundraiser, walker or runner.

Check in for the event begins at 7:30 a.m., followed by the Kid's Fun Run at 8:15 a.m. and the 5K Run/Walk at 8:45 a.m.
The race will generate essential funding for FITB to continue supporting 10,000 children weekly at locations across Fairfield, Westchester and Putnam Counties through their weekend meal program and school-based pantries, according to the nonprofit.

Proceeds from the race will also support FITB's newest initiative, The Fresh Food on the Move mobile pantry, which launched in October 2023 and, to date, has served 698,000 pounds of food to thousands of local families, specifically in Norwalk, Bridgeport and Stamford, according to the nonprofit.
With less than 1 percent of food donated to FITB's program, funding from the race plays a pivotal role in addressing the growing demand for FITB's multiple food assistance programs for families struggling with food insecurity, according to the nonprofit.
This year's event is proudly sponsored for the third consecutive year by Silver Golub & Teitell LLP.
"The Unite to Fight 5k supports the incredible and, unfortunately, necessary work that Filling in the Blanks does to combat childhood hunger in Fairfield County and beyond," Silver Golub & Teitell partner Peter Dreyer said in a news release, "and it's a fun event for all the family."
Those who wish to register for Sunday's event can do so here.
