Franco's Wine Merchants Share Ideas For Mother's Day

Rick Franco, co-owner of Franco's Wine Merchants Elm Street, wishes all mothers a very happy Mother's Day, health, and happiness.

"We're very thankful for what mothers do," he said.

To show his appreciation, Franco recommended a few "unique" wines that could make good Mother's Day gifts.

For the mom who takes a "cerebral" approach to wine, there's French winemaker Jean-Paul Brun's Chardonnay.

Brun is a well known and lauded winemaker in the industry, Franco said. He is dedicated to using organic ingredients in his wine.

Then there's the Sancerre rose wine, Les Bonnes Bouche, from France's Loire Valley. It's made with the "wonderfully popular" Pinot Noir grape, Franco said.

And "for those with romance in their hearts," there is the Selvapiana Chianti Rufina, from just north of Florence in Italy.

"Where all the romantics are from," Franco said. "It's a very elegantly styled wine."
