Free Fire Safety Assessments Available For New Canaan Residents
The New Canaan Fire Marshal's Office and Fire Co. #1 offer free fire safety assessments for town residents; here's how to schedule one.
NEW CANAAN, CT — The New Canaan Fire Marshal's Office and Fire Co. #1 encourage interested residents to schedule a free fire safety assessment for their home.
According to the town's Facebook page, Fire Marshal Paul Payne and a firefighter will walk through a resident's home during a visit, including attics, basements, garages and outbuildings.
During the assessment, Payne and a firefighter offer residents guidance about escape plans, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, fire extinguisher placement, electrical safety, heating systems, dryers and more.

Town officials noted these one-hour assessments are a great resource for longtime residents, new homeowners or anyone who has recently moved to New Canaan.
