NEW CANAAN, CT — The annual Turkey Bowl between Darien and New Canaan is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Thanksgiving, and due to the traditionally large turnout, the Darien Police Department has issued a traffic advisory for the game that will go into effect Thursday morning.

Those attending should plan for traffic delays and extra time needed to arrive at Darien High School.

All vehicle traffic will enter the DHS campus via Noroton Avenue, Darien police said. High School Lane and Nutmeg Lane will be closed to incoming vehicle traffic at 7 a.m. Those walking to the event will be permitted to enter at these locations.

Parking on campus is limited and will be available only to those who have the issued event parking passes. Only vehicles displaying the issued event parking pass on their dashboard will be permitted to enter the DHS campus beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Vehicles without a parking pass are required to park at one of the satellite parking locations at Frate Park (Leroy Avenue), St. Thomas More Church, Middlesex School or the Noroton Heights Train Station. A shuttle service will be in use from those lots.

A handicap permit is required to park in the limited number of handicap parking spaces available. These are available on a first come, first serve basis.

Parking regulations and designated tow away zones will be strictly enforced.

In the past, there have been illegally parked vehicles blocking driveways or restricting access to emergency vehicles. Vehicles causing these types of hazards will be towed.

When parking capacity has been reached, Noroton Avenue extension will be closed to vehicular traffic and only shuttle buses will be permitted to enter campus.

UBER, Lyft, and other ride assist services will not be permitted to enter campus. It is recommended that those using these services plan accordingly for both drop off and pick up as this will need to take place off campus.

Spectators are reminded that per Darien Town Ordinance, the consumption or possession of alcoholic beverages on any Darien school property is prohibited. This will be strictly enforced. No tailgating will be allowed on school property due to safety concerns and the large amount of vehicles and traffic that is expected.

All bags, backpacks and coolers will be subject to inspection. Spectators will not be allowed to bring bottles into the game.
