Hazardous Waste Collection Day Scheduled For New Canaan
According to the town, household hazardous waste is any product that can be classified as toxic, corrosive, flammable or reactive.

NEW CANAAN, CT — The town will host a hazardous waste collection day event this weekend in New Canaan.
The event will be held Sept. 27 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the town Transfer Station, located at 394 Main Street in New Canaan, according to the town website.
Anyone disposing of hazardous materials must have proof of New Canaan residency, town officials noted.

According to the town, household hazardous waste is any product that can be "classified as toxic (poisonous), corrosive, flammable or reactive (explosive)."
These types of products can be found in most homes, garages or workshops and can poison people and animals, as well as pollute the home and natural environments, according to the town.

Label precautions will often identify many of these products with words such as "poison, corrosive, toxic, volatile, flammable, caution, danger or warning," according to the town.
