'Howl-O-Ween' Dog Parade 2024 To Take Place In New Canaan

The second annual "Howl-O-Ween" Dog Parade is set to take place during New Canaan's Halloween Block Party in late October.

NEW CANAAN, CT — The 2024 New Canaan Halloween Block Party returns Sunday, Oct. 27, and this year residents' four-legged friends will once again be joining in the fun.

According to a news release provided by Rock Paper Scissors Custom Events, Elm Street will be closed to traffic from noon until 2 p.m. during the event, and the second annual "Howl-O-Ween" Dog Parade will take place between 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m., weather permitting.

A maximum of 25 dogs can be registered, however event officials ask for one dog per owner to make the judging easier.

Every registered dog will receive a Halloween treat bag, courtesy of family- owned and community based Pet Pantry Warehouse.

Owners and dogs will gather outside the dog-friendly Adirondack Store on Elm Street, then parade down and back for a panel of experts to award prizes for best costumes.

The four categories include:

  • So Cute it's Scary (originality)
  • Bone to be Wild (personality)
  • Scary & Hairy (creativity)
  • The Bark Side (presentation)

Special guest judges include Kristen Schilo (owner of New Canaan Dogs), Michael Konstantaras (master trainer and behavioral therapist from Bark Busters) and Rachel Musa (founder of Dog Friendly CT).

This free event is produced by Rachel Lampen from Rock Paper Scissors Custom Events with the support of the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce.
