Husky/Collie Mix Named Link Ready for Adoption

Cathy Kangas, the CEO and Founder of PRAI Beauty in New Canaan, will pay the adoption fees for Link.

From Adopt-A-Dog:At Adopt-A-Dog in Armonk, N.Y., a 9-year-old Husky/Collie mix named Link has sat in a cage for almost a year watching visitors passing him by and adopting other dogs. He is a sweet dog known at the shelter for his great disposition and being well-versed in basic obedience. All the volunteers love him, yet no one has adopted him.

Meanwhile, families are going to pet stores and buying a puppy that has probably from a puppy mill and may be suffering from illnesses that are not immediately apparent. A puppy takes months to train, can’t be left alone for long period of time and is prone to accidents on the rug.

Link, on the other hand can in instantly assimilate into a family even if there are other dogs and cats. He is great around small children. And he would never chew up your favorite slippers.

Per a poll taken by the ASPCA, every year 3.9 million dogs and 3.4 million cats languish in shelters. Each year, approximately 2.7 million animals are euthanized, including1.2 million dogs and 1.4 million cats, in shelters. Link is lucky as Adopt-A-Dog is a no-kill shelter. But the longer he is locked up in a cage, the more likely it will be that he won’t be adopted.

He loves when children from the neighborhood come to the shelter to read to the animals. But then the children leave and he is back in his cage.

Cathy Kangas, the CEO and Founder of PRAI Beauty in New Canaan, will pay the adoption fees for Link. “As someone who has adopted five rescue dogs, I know how wonderful it is to take home an older dog. Three of my dogs are from Adopt-A-Dog. ts dogs are always well cared for and in good health. The only thing that the dogs I adopted needed was someone to snuggle up against on a cold night and a chance to romp around the dog run.”

Anyone interested in giving Link a forever home, please contact Adopt-A-Dog at 914-273-1674 or adoptions@adoptadog.org. Isn’t time for a new best friend?
