'Mad Men' Actor Jon Hamm Treated for Alcoholism at Silver Hill Hospital

Life imitates art: In 'Mad Men,' Hamm played the role of Don Draper, who had an alcohol problem.

The celebrity-news website TMZ.com has reported Tuesday that actor Jon Hamm recently went through a 30-day treatment program for alcohol addiction at Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan.

Hamm checked in at the hospital at the end of February and left just days before the premier of the final season of “Mad Men,” according to TMZ.com. On the show, Hamm plays Don Draper, the main character — and one who abuses alcohol.

The website quoted a spokesman for Hamm stating: ”With the support of his longtime partner Jennifer Westfeldt, Jon Hamm recently completed treatment for his struggle with alcohol addiction. They have asked for privacy and sensitivity going forward.”
