Man Charged With Assault After Ding Dong Ditch Incident In New Canaan: Police

Police said a New Canaan man is accused of grabbing and throwing a juvenile to the ground after they rang his doorbell and ran away.

NEW CANAAN, CT — A New Canaan man accused of grabbing and throwing a juvenile following a ding dong ditch incident in town was arrested Tuesday night, according to police.

In an arrest log sent to media, police said officers were called to a Ledge Avenue home around 7 p.m. after receiving a report of juveniles ringing doorbells in the area.

Officers arrived at the home and spoke with Paul Robert Kreutzer, 54, who said juveniles had been ringing his doorbell and running away for several nights, according to police.

Officers then interviewed the juveniles, who accused Kreutzer of grabbing and throwing one of them to the ground, according to police.

Kreutzer was arrested after further investigation, police said.

He was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, risk of injury to a child, second-degree breach of peace and third-degree assault.

Kreutzer was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court later this month, according to police.
