New Canaan Athlete Named Starting Quarterback For Notre Dame: Report

Drew Pyne, a former New Canaan High School athlete, has been named the starting quarterback at the University of Notre Dame.

NEW CANAAN, CT — On Monday, former New Canaan High School athlete Drew Pyne was named starting quarterback at the University of Notre Dame, the New Haven Register reports.

According to the New Haven Register, the announcement comes after starter Tyler Buchner suffered an injury and will have to undergo surgery. He is projected to be out for a number of months.

Pyne made his season debut Saturday against Marshall and finished 3-for-6 for 20 yards, according to the Notre Dame website. He also threw a touchdown pass to Michael Mayer in the fourth quarter.

Notre Dame is 0-2 this season and will play the California Golden Bears this weekend.
