New Canaan Board Of Selectmen Approve Hiring Of New Employee
The new employee previously worked for the Monroe Health Department and holds a degree in public health.

NEW CANAAN, CT — The Board of Selectmen approved the hiring of Kelsi McCarthy as sanitarian health program planner 1 for the New Canaan Health Department during a recent meeting.
Project Coordinator Mimi Pitt told board members during the Oct. 21 meeting that she and Director of Health Amy Lehaney reviewed 22 applications during the hiring process, then selected three candidates to interview.
"Kelsi rose right to the top," Pitt said during the meeting.

According to Pitt, McCarthy graduated from Fairfield University with a degree in public health and previously worked for the Monroe Health Department, where she served as a health program planner and community health educator.
Lehaney previously served as director of health in Monroe prior to working in New Canaan and noted she had trained McCarthy during her time in Monroe.

"She's doing the same job [in Monroe] that she will be doing down here," Lehaney said during the meeting, "and as my transition has been relatively seamless, I expect hers to be too."
Selectman Stephen Karl spoke highly of McCarthy's "great resume" and her education at Fairfield University.
All three board members unanimously approved McCarthy's hiring.
