New Canaan Community Creates Permanent Mosaic Artwork for the Library
New Canaan, Conn., [Sept. 25, 2025] –New Canaan Library is proud to announce the completion of large-scale community mosaic mural, created with the help of dozens of local individuals and artists from The Art Spot. This impressive, 8 x 9-foot mural will be permanently installed beneath the balcony in the Library’s Cioffi Family Living Room.
Over several days, participants worked side by side with The Art Spot Co-founders Joanne and Bruce Hunter to cut, place, and grout thousands of colorful tiles to create the specially commissioned piece. The result is a vibrant mosaic masterpiece that reflects both artistic craftsmanship and the collaborative spirit of the New Canaan community.

“We are so fortunate to do what we love: bringing art into people’s everyday lives,” said Bruce Hunter. “After months of planning and design work with the Library, it was a joy to see the community bring the mural to life. Participants did an excellent job, and together they created something unique and special.”

A celebration for the installation of the mosaic mural will take place at a public open house on Saturday, October 4 from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM in the Cioffi Family Library Living Room. The mural is currently untitled, and the Library will be collecting naming suggestions at the ceremony.
