New Canaan Community Foundation Supports AmeriCares Norwalk Clinic

New Canaan Community Foundation has awarded an $8,000 grant to the Bob Macauley AmeriCares Free Clinic of Norwalk to support free primary care services for low-income children and adults without health insurance, according to a press release.

Founded in 1994, the clinic serves more than 800 residents of Norwalk and surrounding towns. Patients receive comprehensive health services, including lab work, medication and diagnostic testing, all at no cost.

“Support from local organizations like New Canaan Community Foundation is essential to our program,” said Karen Gottlieb, executive director of AmeriCares Free Clinics. “Thanks to this generous grant, our Norwalk clinic can continue to provide quality health care to those most in need.”

New Canaan Community Foundation is dedicated to helping its donors improve the quality of life in New Canaan and other local communities. The foundation collaborates with contributors to make careful philanthropic investments in area nonprofit organizations.

The foundation is the modern version of old-fashioned charity—neighbors lending a hand to help each other and to make our communities a better place for everybody, according to a press release. In 2014 alone, the New Canaan Community Foundation awarded 69 grants and scholarships totaling more than $1,200,000.
