NEW CANAAN, CT — On Nov. 4, New Canaan residents cast their votes for several key municipal positions in town. Here's everything you need to know about the upcoming municipal election.

Election Day polling hours and locations

Polls in Connecticut are open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day. You can use the Secretary of State’s website to find your polling place. Voters who are in line by 8 p.m. will be allowed to vote.

Same day voter registration

If you are not registered, but want to vote on Election Day, you may register in person on Election Day at your Election Day Registration site People must be registered by 8 p.m. in order to vote using Election Day registration.

Here are the local candidates:

First Selectman, Vote for One:

The Republican candidate is Dionna Carlson.


Selectmen, Vote for One:

The Democratic candidate is Amy Murphy Carrol and the Republican candidate is Steve Karl.


Town Clerk, Vote for One:

The Republican candidate is Claudia Weber.


Town Treasurer, Vote for One:

The Republican candidate is Andrew Brooks.


Board of Education, Vote for Up to Five:

The Democratic candidates are Kate Brambilla, Erica Schwedel andJoshua Kaye, and the Republican candidates are Hugo Alves, Phil Hogan and Julie Toal.


Board of Assessment Appeals, Vote for Up to Two:

The Democratic candidate is John Matz and the Republican candidates are Kevin McIntosh and Tony Calanca.


Councilmen, Vote for Up to Six:

The Democratic candidates are Hilary Ormond, Michael Rodgers, Lina Lee and Heather Russell, and the Republican candidates are Arvind Bajaj, Pavla Levin, Scott Gress, Penny Young and Kimberly Norton.


Constables, Vote for Up to Four:

The Democratic candidates are Edward Vollmer, Kristen Mitrakis and Susan Edmands, and the Republican candidates are Jill Guzzetti, Alberto Gonzalez, Greg Pepe and Bob Naughton.
