New Canaan FD Responds to Chimney Fire

No one was injured in the Wednesday night fire on East Maple Street.

New Canaan firefighters responded to a chimney fire on East Maple Street on Wednesday night that reportedly was caused by a buildup of creosote, fire officials said.

Two engine squads and a ladder truck from the New Canaan Fire Department Eresponded to 39 E. Maple St. about 7:05 p.m., according to The New Canaanite. No one was injured and only the chimney was damaged.

Fire Chief Jack Hennessey said the fire likely was caused by creosote from a chimney that had not been cleaned properly, according to the report that can be found here.
