New Canaan High School Ranked No. 2 In CT, According To New Ranking

NEW CANAAN, CT — New Canaan High School was ranked as the No. 2 best public high school in Connecticut, according to a report released last week by Niche.

Additionaly, the school was ranked second on the list of Best College Prep Public High Schools in CT, and third on the Best Public High School Teachers in CT list.

Niche gave NCHS a letter grade of A+. Grades in specific categories were:

• Academics: A+
• Teachers: A+
• Clubs and activities: A
• Sports: A+
• Resources and facilities: A
• Diversity: B-
• College prep: A
• Administration: A
• Food: A+

NCHS has 1,286 students in grades 9-12 with a student-teacher ratio of 11 to 1. According to state test scores, 70 percent of students are at least proficient in math and 88 percent in reading, Niche says.

The 2025 Best Public High Schools in America ranking, released Monday, shows the best traditional public high schools in the nation, including magnet and charter schools.

Niche said its rankings, now in the 10th year, differ from others that rely almost exclusively on test scores and academic performance in that it also includes input from students, alumni and parents, as well as quantitative data from sources such as the U.S. Department of Education to evaluate teachers, resources and facilities.
