NEW CANAAN, CT — The Board of Selectmen approved the hiring of a new director of health for the town of New Canaan during a meeting held Tuesday morning.

"We are very lucky to have had her apply," Pickering-Jones said during the meeting, "and I think she will be a great asset to the town."
First Selectman Dionna Carlson said she thought bringing Lehaney in to work for the town of New Canaan would be "an easy transition."
Selectman Stephen Karl agreed but requested Lehaney be brought to a future board meeting so board members could meet her, to which Pickering-Jones agreed.
"This particular position is very difficult to find," Karl said, "so we're very lucky to have found [Lehaney]."
All three board members unanimously approved Lehaney's hiring.
She is set to officially begin her new position in New Canaan on June 9 due to her needing to give a month's notice in her current position, Pickering-Jones said.
