New Canaan HS Engineering-Science Teams Win State Competition
Congratulations to the Tests of Engineering Aptitude, Mathematics and Science (TEAMS) teams on their achievements.
New Canaan, CT – Two New Canaan High School Tests of Engineering Aptitude, Mathematics and Science (TSA/TEAMS) teams have won awards in a national competition held this week at the University of New Haven.
Forty-eight New Canaan High School students represented their school at the Tests of Engineering Aptitude, Mathematics and Science (TSA/TEAMS) national competition hosted by the University of New Haven on March 14.
While results of the national portion of the competition have not been released, the State of Connecticut results are complete. NCHS Varsity “A” and Varsity “B” teams placed first and second in their divisions.

The TEAMS event pits high school teams from around the country in a competition based upon a series of engineering problems centered on a particular theme. This year’s theme was “Engineering the Tools of Innovation.” Teams comprised of eight students used their engineering skills to tackle issues that engineers are facing now and will face in the future. Challenges focused on the energy efficiency of pumping systems, Failure Engineering and Materials Science, Genomics, Microscope technology, Lenses and Telescopes, Semiconductor Materials, Six Sigma Manufacturing Methods, and Colonizing Mars.
