New Canaan League of Women Voters Hosts Local Forum
League of Women Voters & advertiser shed light on candidates and charter revision in local forum.

From the New Canaan League of Women Voters:
NEW CANAAN, CT - Not only will residents meet candidates running for the Connecticut State Senate and General Assembly at the annual Candidates Forum, they’ll also get a handle on what’s at stake for New Canaan with our upcoming charter revision—in language we can all understand. This free, public event is co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters of New Canaan and the New Canaan Advertiser, on Tuesday, November 1st in the Town Hall Meeting Room. Doors will open at 6:30, and light refreshments will be served; the forum begins promptly at 7:00 p.m.
The evening’s moderator, Kay Maxwell, former president of the national League of Women Voters, will steer a debate among Senate candidates, followed by a debate among candidates for the General Assembly. Questions from the audience are encouraged.

In the forum’s second half, the New Canaan LWV will give a brief, nuts-and-bolts presentation on proposed changes to the Town of New Canaan Charter. Questions from the audience will follow, to be addressed by members of the Charter Revision Commission.
Residents will have the opportunity to speak informally with candidates at the conclusion of the program. The event will be aired live on Channel 79.
