New Canaan Organization Launches 2025 Substance Use, Misuse Campaign

The campaign features anti-vaping stickers displayed on coffee cups and to-go bags at these New Canaan businesses.

NEW CANAAN, CT — New Canaan CARES, a local organization that aims to advance the health and well-being of youth and families, announced Thursday the launch of its 2025 Substance Use & Misuse Campaign.

According to the New Canaan CARES Facebook page, this initiative "continues the fight against youth vaping with a fresh campaign designed by teens, for teens" and features anti-vaping stickers created by local students displayed on coffee cups and to-go bags at these participating local businesses:

  • Zumbach’s Gourmet Coffee (77 Pine Street, New Canaan)
  • Pinocchio Pizza (115 Main Street, New Canaan)
  • Tony’s Deli (75 Pine Street, New Canaan)
  • The Farmer’s Grind at New Canaan Library (151 Main Street, New Canaan)

"Stop by these spots for a pick-me-up and grab a sticker while you're at it! Snap a pic with your sticker, tag us, and make a difference together," the post reads.

The organization also thanked New Canaan High School Senior Intern Kallie Patterson for spearheading the initiative, as well as Tatum Colthup of New Canaan Girl Scouts for their "powerful" designs.

"This campaign shows how student voices can lead the way in public health," Maureen Asiel, education and program manager at New Canaan CARES, said on Facebook.

The initiative is part of the work of the town's Local Prevention Council, a collaborative group of twelve community sectors focused on youth substance use prevention led by New Canaan CARES, according to the organization.
