New Canaan Pickleball Championships To Be Held June 30

The town's men's, women's and mixed doubles pickleball championships will be held June 30 at the Mead Park courts, and space is limited.

NEW CANAAN, CT — The town's men's, women's and mixed doubles pickleball championships will be held June 30 at the Mead Park courts beginning at 9 a.m., and space is limited.

According to the New Canaan Parks and Recreation website, entry fees are $30 per doubles teams ($15 per player). The entry deadline is June 22 at 5 p.m., and all players must register prior to the tournament.

Seniors are defined as individuals aged 60 years or older, according to Parks and Recreation.

Tournament Format:

  • Each category must have a minimum of four teams.
  • In the early rounds, games will be played to 15 points, with a win required by 2 points. The semi-finals and final will consist of 2 out of 3 games to 11 points, with a win by 2 points in each game.
  • Every team must provide one new Franklin X40 pickleball.
  • USAPA rules will be enforced at the discretion of the tournament director.
  • Winners and runners-up will receive prizes.
  • Tournament start time is based on number of teams.

Tournament officials also noted players may be scheduled to play multiple matches in one day.

Players are asked to make sure both they and their partner, if applicable, are available for the entire tournament weekend, as match schedules will be determined and updated by the tournament director.
